With any business come necessary growing pains. As Lizz's focus is shifting towards being a more active competitor and increasing her experience to include more upper level dressage, something needs to give. ZZ Training will be minimizing the number of clients and horses that are accepted into training to provide more time for Lizz to attend clinics and shows. Some of the ZZ Training horses will be offered for sale after beginning their show careers. Stay tuned, and we'll see you in the show ring.
Lizz began ZZ Training as a traveling trainer throughout the Prescott quad cities of Arizona. She worked with horses of varied disciplines including pleasure (western or English), trail and endurance, dressage, and even a few gaited horses. Lizz enjoyed seeing the progress her clients made each day as they learned to overcome the daily challenges of working with such wonderful, occasionally opinionated, animals. Upon acquiring a small private stable Lizz began to take in horses on property for full training and have lessons on property.
After graduation, the job search led her to Arizona. Working with trainers in the hunter/jumper, endurance, and natural horsemanship disciplines, Lizz expanded her knowledge base further. This broad base gives Lizz a wealth of perspective in helping each horse understand what is being asked of it - and each owner how to ask it
This passion led her to The University of Findlay in Ohio where she double majored in Equine Business Management and Equestrian Studies with an emphasis on English riding and training. Through connections at the school, Lizz was able to spend a summer riding for Tim and Helena Stormanns in Germany at their show jumping stable. Lizz learned invaluable lessons riding horses of all levels, serving as a groom and presenting horses to clients. During her last year at the University of Findlay she rode for the Intercollegiate Dressage Association team. Lizz qualified for IDA Nationals both as a team rider and as an individual, where she was individual Reserve National Champion in her division.
Lizz grew up in New York where she started taking riding lessons at age five. Over the years she became more involved with her stables and began working on weekends tacking up the lesson horses when only eight years old. Her passion for horses and riding has been lifelong and grows stronger with each day spent working with and around them.
